One piece of good news 👍:
The US DoJ announced that the FBI, IRS, Europol and other law enforcement agencies seized the website and servers of the cryptocurrency mixing service Samourai Wallet which had been used to launder illicit funds to the value of at least $100 million. The two founders of the service have been arrested, one in the US while the other is pending extradition to the US from Portugal
One final note:
In order to combat Gift Card Scams preying on elderly people who fall victim to Tech Support and similar fraud schemes, Japanese police have started placing fake payment cards in convenience stores. The cards, which are actually labelled "Virus Trojan Horse Removal Payment Card" and "Unpaid Bill Late Fee Payment Card", are already credited with saving two elderly men who were deceived into thinking their computers had been infected with malware and were tricked into paying a fee for cleaning the systems. Staff at the stores are trained to assist customers who attempt to purchase the cards, by explaining to the purchaser that they had been targeted in a scam
(Brilliant idea 👍)
